Reports indicate the president was lightly injured, while several other government officials were also hurt, some of them more seriously.
Initial reports indicate a shell hit a mosque inside President Saleh's compound in Sana'a during midday prayers Friday. It was not immediately clear who launched the attack, but the city has been ravaged by fighting between government troops and tribal forces for nearly two weeks.
Aides to the president said he would hold a news conference shortly, an appearance that would counter opposition claims that Saleh had been gravely injured, and possibly killed.
Earlier in the day, government forces attacked the headquarters of an opposition TV station in Sana'a, heavily damaging the building.
Fighting has escalated in Sana'a between troops and forces loyal to loyal to Sheikh Sadeq al-Ahmar, head of the Hashid tribal federation.
Violence is also continuing in Taiz, against political protesters, and in Zinjibar, against Islamist militants, turning what began as peaceful political protests four months ago into what many observers fear is near all-out civil war.

This tile is really funny . The President wounded in his palace under the fire of shelling . So if the fire of rebels and dissidents reached him , it is just a time to remove him from his throne . It seems that Sheik Sadeq al-Ahmar is going to change his strategy before losing everything in this war . It is better to stand beside public instead being in the queue of war criminals .
03-06-2011hamad part 2of 2(Oman)The situation in Yemen is really vague and dreadful in whole prospective . We do not know How Yemeni people are going to act after removing Saleh and which direction the events are going to take ? I hope that this message could stop shedding blood of innocent people and change the attitude of Ali Saleh .

03-06-2011He has no control and should run for his life if he can. Then again if one of these despot leaders is strung up by their people.. The message will be powerful and potent. Mr. Saleh may just become a catalyst for a much wider revolt in the region..Perhaps Assad is next. Not much of an ally now? He had a chance at leaving peaceably and with his country intact..Instead his ego will lead to a scorched earth event. Take out your bankrupt check books around the world. This is going to cost us all big
